4 Sutject: UPDATE ON HURRICANE BONNIE l

At 3:00 p.m. on August 26,1998, the center of Hurricane Bonnie was estimated at latitude 33.7 North and longitude 78.0 West which is approximately over the Brunswick Plant. Hurricane force winds have been experienced at the site, but no significant damage has occurred. Offsite power and normal telephone communications remain available. The licensee ;l, l

continues to staff the emergency facilities.

NRC personnel remain on site. The Region II Incident Response Center '

continues in the Monitoring Mode. Region II's State Liaison Officer and the Federal Emergency Preparedness Disaster Assessment Team are located at the North Carolina Emergency Operations Center.

The General Electric Fuel Fabrication Facility has lost the secondary clectrical feeder which irupplies power to process water wells, waste treatment plant, and some warehouses. No other damage has been reported.
