The information is as initially received without verifi-cation or evaluation, and is basically all that is known by-the Region II staff on this date.

SUBJECT:

TRANSPORTATION OF INJURED WORKER TO HOSPITAL - UPDATE This PN updates PNO-II-86-17, issued on February 24.

Additional information from Carolina Power & Light indicates that there was some contamination on the protective clothing and on a stretcher used to transport to a hospital a contract construction worker who fell while working inside the Brunswick Unit 2 drywell on February 23.

Surveys showed that the contamination amounted to about 25,000 disintegrations per minute (dpm) on the protective clothing removed from the worker at the hospital, and about 270 dpm on the stretcher. The site release limit is 1000 dpm. In both cases, contamination was confined to a single spot. The protective clothing and stretcher were bagged and returned to the plant. No other contamination was found.

CP&L is prepared to respond to media inquiries.

The State of North Carolina has been informed.
