FACILITY: Carolina Power and Light Company Brunswick, Unit 2 Docket No. 50-324 Southport North Carolina

SUBJECT:

EMPLOYEE INJURY l On April 4, at 5:45 p.m. a Daniels Construction Company employee working in the torus fell about 10 feet. The facility is in a refueling outage. He sustained injuries to nonload bearing bones of his back, and a cut on his arm. The employee was transported via ambulance to Docher Memorial Hospital in Southport for treat- I ment. Ili s protective clothing was contaminated to 2200 cpm. His body was not con ta.aina te d . The contaminated clothing was returned to the pinnt. Contamination surveys were taken at. potentially contaminated locations outside the plant. The surveys did not show any contamination. The employee is expected to be released f rom the hospital in 4 days. ,

l The accident was reported in the local newspaper. The licensee has issued a  !

press release. The NRC does not plan a press release. The State of Nort.h 1 Carolina has been notified.

This Preliminary Notification is issued for information only and no further action by IE is anticipated.

Region II (Atlanta) received notification of this occurrence by telephone from IE:liQS Emergency Response Center at 7:35 p.m. on April 4. This infomation is current as of 9:15 a.m. on April 7.
