M 24 W MEMORANDUM FOR: John Surmeier, Acting Director Planning & Program Analysis Staff, NMSS FROM:
Robert A. Erickson, Coordinator Comanche Peak Report Review Group 4
SUBJECT:
MEMORANDUM OF APPRECIATION The purpose of this memorandum is to express my appreciation for the outstanding support which I received from Ellen Kraus while serving as Coordinator of the Comanche Peak Report Review Group.
As you know, the EDO formed the Comanche Peak Report Review Group (CPRRG) and appointed John Davis as its Chairman, January 21, 1987. The CPRRG was established to review technical issues in OIA Report 86-10 concerning allegations of miscon-duct by Region IV management in the handling of inspection and enforcement issues with respect to the Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station. As Coordinator of the CPRRG I was responsible for establishing in effect, a special project office complete with files, contract support, and all administrative functions required to perform the CPRRG mission during the period January through March 1987.
s A major area in which Ms. Kraus was extremely helpful involved our project records amounting to tens of thousands of pages of documentation which had to be carefully docketed, compiled, referenced, controlled, copied, distributed and reviewed by the CPRPG and its Task Groups. About 40 active participants were involved in reviewing these documents in Headquarters and the Regions.
Like many other persons in the NRC staff, Ms. Kraus had competing professional commitments during this period. Nevertheless, she willingly assisted as time and circumstance permitted and thereby contributed greatly to the success of the project.
Please express our appreciation to Ms. Kraus for contributing her skills, talents and plain hard work to this project.
