         Dear Mr.. Peterson:
         On March 6, 1998, the NRC completed an inspection at;your Catawba Nuclear-
         Station. The enclosed. report presents the.results of that inspection.
       - During the week 'of March 2-6,1998. .an. inspection team observed selected
         portions of your emergency organization's response in; key facilities during
         the~ emergency preparedness plume exposure exercise conducted on March 3. 1998.
         The emergency response ' observed.during the simulated accident was considered

         In accordance with 10 CFR 2.-790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice." a copy of
         this letter and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
