STATE OF WASHINGTON SUSPENSION OF COMMONVEALTH EDISON, DRESDEN NUCLEAR POWER STATION PERMIT FOR RADIOACTIVE WASTE BURIAL The Region V office was notified ty a letter dated April 7,1986 f rom the State of Wa hington that a shipment of radioactive waste was received on April 3, 1986 from Co=monwealth Edison, Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Morris, Illinois. Upon examination by th2 state inspector, one drum was found with a hole in the side. Based upon this violation of Department of Transportation regulations, the State of Washington banned the NRC licensee from use of the burial site and suspended the burial permit (#2280) effective April 4, 1986. There was no radioactive contacination associated with the shi;uent.

Tha Region V office van notified of the action taken by the State of Washington by a letter which was received on April 11, 1986. Region Ill was notified on April 11, 1986.
