Dear Mr. Taylor:

This letter is written as an instrument to put the Commission on notice that a defect has been discovered in Westinghouse circuit breakers type LBB, Catalog Number LBB22250.

The description of this circuit breaker is as follows:

It is a 2 pole, 400 ampere rated, magnetic only, with factory installed 125 volt direct current shunt trip, with a magnetic trip range of 1125 to 2250 amperes.

The defect is that when the shunt trip coil is energized the "A" contact does not always open and the intermittent duty coil has continuous current on it. This could lead to burning out the shunt trip coil.

The projects that these circuit breakers were used on are Limerick Generating Station and Peachbottom, for Philadelphia Electric Company.

Very truly yours, ASCO ELECTRICAL PRODUCTS CO INC s
