ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REQUESTED ON THE COVERAGE OF POSITIONS, i INVESTIGATOR AND SUPERVISORY INVESTIGATOR, NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION UNDER 5 U.S.C. 8336(c)
As per your request dt myaisit ofdebruary 9,1976, the following additional information is provided concerning the above mentioned positions:
- 1. The position of Investigator .and Supervisory Investigator are involved 100% of the time in investigation. Their only relationship to the audit function is via a request for investigation of a suspected criminal offense discovered through an audit procedure.
- 2. The involvement of the Investigator and Supervisory Investigator is initiated by a request from the Office of Inspection and Enforcement of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), a public citizen, an NRC employee or an auditor who suspects a criminal violation.
- 3. The Investigator and Supervisory Investigator has and will become involved in criminal investigations of violations or suspected violations of the following laws:
- a. Fraud Against the Government - False Statements 18 U.S.C.1001 Extortion 18 U.S~.C. 872
- b. .
- c. Sabotage 18 U.S.C. 2151 and 2153
- d. Conspiracy 18,0.S.C. 371
-e. Theft of Government Property 18 U.S.C. 641
- f. Willful Damage to Government Property 18 U.S.C. 1361
- g. Conflict of Interest 18 U.S.C. 201 through 209
- h. Bribery 18 U.S.C. 201
- 1. Interstate Transportation of Explosives and Radioactive Material or Etiologic Agents 18 U.S.C. 832 l j. Specific Atomic Energy Act violations prior to advising the FBI who has investigative jurisdiction. These include unauthorized L
dealings in special nuclear material, source material and by-product material as well as unauthorized dealings in atomic weapons.
