COVERAGE UNDER 5 USC 8336(c)(1) FOR THE POSITION OF CRIMINAL INVESTIGATOR, GG-1811-12, IN THE OFFICE OF INSPECTOR & AUDITOR (0IA)
The purpose of this memorandum is to confim the information you received from our Personnel Office regarding retirement coverage for the position of Criminal Investigator, GG-1811-12, in the Office of Inspector and. Auditor (OIA).
It is my understanding that prior to September 28, 1986, (your entrance-on-duty date), you were told that the above position was covered under the special retirement provisions for law enforcement officers and you would be covered as such. This was a reasonable assumption on the part of our staffing specialist at the time.
However, due to the lack of specified individual coverage for investigative pnsitions, grades 12 and below in OIA we are now seeking OPM's approval for coverage under the special law enforcement retirement provisions.
Susan Dickerson of g staff has given you a copy of our letter dated June 4,1987, to OPM requesting ccnfimation of coverage.
