Dear Ms. El-Almin:
In May 1964, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) approved our 1811 series s investigator positions in the Office of Investigations (01), for 6(c) retirement.
These positions are the direct successors of those from the Office of Inspection and Enforcement (!&E) which was 01's predecessor. However, there is a question of whether we received OPM's written confirmation that the investigator positions l in I&E were approved for 6(c) retirement.
For your information, the earlier positions were essentially the same as those in the current office; there was strictly a transfer of functions in July 1982. The l I&E investigators performed highly complex and thorough investigations of suspected wrong doing on the part of NRC licensees, their contractors, vendors, and their employees. In addition,' the investigations included violations of the Federal Criminal Code, NRC regulations and violations of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended.
l Therefore, to ensure that our records are complete and accurate, we ask OPM to review and approve these I&E investigator positions under the 6(c) provision.
