- EB t 81l185 MfMORANDUM FOR
D. DuBois, Cooper Nuclear Station Resident Inspector FROM:
R. Cooley, Chief, Operator Licensing Section
SUBJECT:
COOPER NUCLEAR STATION SALP INPUT ON OPERATOR LICENSING Operator licensing examinations were administered several times during the SALP reporting period of July 1,1983 to January 31, 1985.
Twelve reactor operator replacement candidates were examined with nine licenses being issued.
Fourteen senior operator candidates were examined with seven licenses eventually being issued.
Nine reactor operators and senior operators that were licensed were administered requalification examinations by Region IV personnel.
Five candidates passed these examinations.
Unannounced site visits were made on two occasions.
One, to audit facility grading of facility administered requalification examinations, and the other to proctor the facility administered requalification retake examination for candidates who had previously failed.
The facility grading was considered satisfactory.
Comparing the most recent examination results with the results of examinations administered approximately 9 months to 1 year ago shows a noticeable improvement in candidato performance due to the increased awareness of the importance of training.
