Dear Mr. Keppler:

The above References provided information concerning a

potential deficiency reportable pursuant to 10 CPR 50.55(e) regarding deficient welds on certain ASME Section III tanks and heat exchangers at our Braidwood Station. The purpose of this letter is to provide an updated status of the corrective actions taken to resolve this issue and is considered to be a Final Report.

STATUS OF CORRECTIVE ACTIONS ,

As previously reported Chicago Bridge & Iron's (CB&I) inspections of the remaining six tanks identified under NCR 694 (lDOlTA-TD & 2DO1TA&TB) are complete and their evaluation of the inspection results is continuing. The results of this evaluation 3

will be submitted to Sargent & Lundy for their review and approval.

Commonwealth Edison Project Field Engineering (PFE) and Sargent & Lundy have finalized the list of vessels potentially involved under NCR 711. An additional six (6) vessels have been identified.

Commonwealth Edison PFE has coordinated the inspection of eleven (11) vessels currently identified in the scope of NCR 711 and the inspection of the additional six (6) vessels. The inspection results were submitted to and evaluated by Westinghouse for the Westinghouse supplied items. PFE currently is evaluating the Westinghouse response. The results of other vendor supplied items were submitted to Sargent & Lundy for evaluation.

It is expected that all corrective actions, accept as-is or repair as necessary, will be complete by April 1986. Please address any questions that you or your staff ma, have concerning this matter to this office.
