Dear Mr. Keppler:

The above references provided information concerning a deficiency reportable pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55(e) regarding out of tolerance radiograpnic film densities at our Braidwood Station. The purpose of this letter is to inform you that the Unit 1 corrective actions identified to resolve this issue are now complete. Those l corrective actions remaining to resolve the Unit 2 related items are being tracked by CECO NCR 788. This letter is considered to be a final report. v i In our last submittal we identified three corrective actions remaining to be completed; resolution of 32 production welds, close out of Phillips Getschow NCRs, and evaluation / resolution of Power Systems Inc. (PSI) welder qualifications. Of the 32 production welds, 13 affecting Unit 1 were repaired and/or re-radiographed as necessary, and the associated.Phillips Getschow NCR's #5207, #5208, and #5209 have been

, closed. The qualifications of 84 PSI welders were evaluated in i i accordance'with the disposition provided in CECO NCR 609 Rev. 2. I l The results of this evaluation confirm the ability of the subject i i welders to' perform sound welds. These steps finalize corrective I i actions for Unit 1.

Subsequent to the issuance of Reference (e), NCR 609 Rev. 1 was divided into two separate CECO NCRs: 609 Rev. 2 for Unit 1 and 788 for Unit 2. This was to facilitate resolution of the issue. As indicated above NCR 609 Rev. 2 is now complete. NCR 788 for Unit 2 will be complete following access and inspection of 19 containment spray welds. Resolution of NCR 788 will complete the corrective actions for Unit 2.
