Dear Mr. Norberg:

The reference given above transmitted the Babcock & Wilcox proprietary Topical Report BAW-10171P, "REFLOD3B." Babcock &

Wilcox has found it necessary to update this report. Enclosed are twenty (20) copies of the report update pages.

The modification to Appendix F removes the Henry quench temperature criteria and a potential conflict in the quench l logic for core slab one. The original logic would allow a non-physical discontinuous change in the heat transfer coefficient of core slab one if the Zq* criteria was satisfied before the quench temperature criteria was satisfied. The change to the Transition Period core outlet flow is to achieve compatibility with Babcock & Wilcox's stated goal (BAW-10171P, 12/87, page 2-

42) of allowing sufficient liquid entrainment to maintain volume 1R two-phase, t

The report update is considered proprietary as sworn by me as Manager, Babcock & Wilcox Licensing, in my affidavit presented with our April 15, 1987 (J. H. Taylor to Carl Berlinger, JHT/87-085) submittal of the draft topical report and should be treated as such.
