50TE Observe the minians band radius of four times the conducto-or bundle diameter.

8.1.5 Shape the wire bunce or individual conductors so as to present a nest, uniform appearance but without interferring with panel componenta, novable parta, etc.

CAUTION Sundling and shaping must be accomplished so as not to apply any forse is any direction on the taraination.

8.1.6 Install the Dog. Tag type sable identification tag around all the conductors of each bandle, vid a TT. TAP as close as practical to where the conductors are separated (fanned out) for individual routing.

8.1.7 Determine the proper conductor length by routing the wire to its termination point, adding enough slack (at least three terminal lengths) for possible future roterr.inisation without producing any force on the terislantina, to present a neat rounded appearance.

72 A CIWA has been submitted and resolved for any discrepancies encountered during the performance of the procedure.

8.0 EEQ&EDMEE 8.1 PREPARATION 8.1.1 Ensure that all of the prerequisites have been completed.

8.1.2 The outer insulation of a multi-conductor cable may be recoved to within four inches from its point of entry for bundling and routing ease.

8.1.2.1 When a cable enters a motor connection box / pot-head, the outer

(

insulation may be remo'ved as required to allow for ease of termination.

8.1.2.2 Seal the outer insulation jacket and with two layers of Okonite T-35 Tape or equivalent; weave between the individual conductors (if enough room exists) and over the insulation jacket at least one inch.

8.1.2.3 Install the taped cable identification tag on the outer insula-tion of the stripped-back cable.

8.1 3 sundle those wires together whose inner-panel routing will be the same.

8.1 3 1 aundle wires parallel to each other, not crossed or twisted.

8.1.3 2 D'o not bury the wire identification tags in the bundle.

8.1 3 3 Secure the bundles with TY-RAPS at least every six to nine inches.

8.1.4 Support the bundle by securing it to the panel close to its entry point and/or as needed for adequate support.

i 5

Msintenance Procedure Mg-4-810 Low Voltage Power' Cable Revision 0 Ter=inations and Splices 8.1.4.1 Use panel trays or troughs, where so equipped for wire bundling.

NOTE i

Observe the minimum bend radius of four times the conductor or bundle diameter.

8.1.5 Shape the wire bundle or individual conductors so as to present a neat, uniform appearance but without interferring with panel components, movable parts, etc.

CAUTION Bundling and shaping must be accomplished so as not to apply any force in any direction on the

termination.

1 8.1.6 Install the Dog-Tag type cable identification tag around all the conductors of each bundle, with a TY-RAP as close as practical to where the conductors are separated (fanned out) for individual routing.

8.1.7 Determine the proper conductor length by routing the wire to its termination point, adding enough slack (at least three terminal lengths) for possible future reterminination w*thout producing any l

force on the termination, to present a neat rounded appearance.

S.2 3 Select the correct size terminal lug / splice as indicatec in at-tachment 10.1 (figure 1).

NOTE Use heat shrink tubing on all AWG 14 through 10 1211222 L

8.2.4 Crimp the terminal lug / splice, ensuring that the completed crimp meets the criteria indicated 1n Attachment 10.2 (figure 3).

~

8.2.5 Where terminals require a bare wire (no terminal lug) termination, strip the wire slightly longer than the terminal requires to preclude clamping the insulation under the terminal screw.

Attach any required wire identification markers.

()8.2.6 8.3 CRIMPING AWG NO.8 THROUGH 500 MCM TERMINAL LUGS 8.3.1 Using a sharp knife, remove the required amount of insulation as indicated in attachment 10.1 (figure 2).

8 3.2 If the cable is aluminum, wire-brush the exposed conductors to remove any oxide film.

8.?.3 Celect the correct type crimping tool as indicated in attachment 10.1 (figure 2).

834 Select the correct size terminal lug as indicated in attachment 10.1 (figure 2).

8.4 TERMINATING 8. 4.1 For screw-type terminations, attact the terminal lug / wire to its termination point, ensuring the wire identification, if so equipped, is visible.

8.4.2 Tighten the terminal screw securely.

S.4 3 Connect the cable to the equipment terminal or cable lead by bolting, and torque connections in accordance wits attachment 10.3 (figure 4).

8.4 3.1 Cables bolted directly to equipment do not require insulating unless minimum clearances as indicated in attachment 10 3 (figure 5) cannot be met.
