A design review cf the Plant Pr: taction Systam has indicated that disc:nnection of si-her ccnnect:r AP21C? Or 0P3109 will resu!: in fuli R?S and ESFA5 actua:i:ns through the de-enargiati:n of all FPS trip ;sths. This is in::nsistent with the C-E design philes:phy for the system. Therefere, this cesign change is being i=;1emented to rectify this concern.

Field Action Recuired In:orporate the wiring changes and perform testing as outlined in this Field Mcdification Procedure.

The documentation affected by this modification is the PPS. Tech Manual Figures 8-19, 20 and 21 and the Relay Card Rack Wi:re Lists Ch. A tio. 31270 Rev. 05 and. Ch. D No. 31373 Rev. 05.

1.0 Scece The modifications listed in this procedure, exchange wires between the connectors AJ3109 and AJ!110 and also Between connectors DJ3109 and DJ3110.

These wiring changes prevent all four R?S and ESFAS trip paths frem being de-energi:ed upon disconnection of either connec :c, thus eliminating full RPS and E5FAS actuations.

Refer to Table I for the wiring changes ass::ia:ed wi:n the Channel A Relay Card Rack and Table II f:r Channel C.

4.2 In order to reduce the amount of rer:uting and rewiring within the card ra:k the pr.rsennel perfoming the m:dificatien shall make the following observations before removing both end points of any wire c nnection present1f within the assembly. The modification involves the exchanging of the wires / pins in the J3109 and J3110 cennectors.

A simple m'ethod of making the change s:uld be t: merely swap the c:n-nections.

In order to ac:omplish this it =ust be determined whether sufficient wire length exists to make the exchange.

If this method of r:cdification is possible.after cc=pleting each wire pair swap, initial the appropriate " Mod Sy* colu=n in the Table. ~

Sheuld insdfficient wire length be available the wire change must be accomplished in accordance with the following procedure.

Deicriction A design review of the Plant Protection System has indicated that disconnection of either connector AP3109 or OP3109 will result in full RPS and ESFAS actuations through the de-energization of all PPS trip paths.

This *is inconsistent with the C-E design philosophy for the system.

Therefore, this design change is being i=plemented to rectify this concern.

Field Action Recuired In:orporate the wiring changes and perform testing as outlined in this Field Modification Procedure.

The documentation affected by this modification is the PPS. Tech Manual Figures 8-19, 20 and 21 and the Relay Card Rack Wilre Lists Ch. A fic. 313.70 Rev. 05 a,nii Ch. D No. 31373 Rev. 05.

1.0 Scoce The modifications listed in this procedure exchange wires between the connectors AJ3109 and AJ3110 and also Between connectors DJ3109 and DJ3110.

These wiring changes prevent all four R?S and ESFAS trip paths from being de-energized upon disconnection of either connector, thus eliminating full RPS and ESFAS actuations.

I This procedure is to be 1erformed on The Relay Card Rack assemblies in Channels A and D of the DPS Cabinet.

1 G.

Ensure that the above CAUTIO;l3 have been obseryed.

\\

4.1 On the Relay Card Rack assembly remove the rear panel (.s) in order to allow access to the cabling going to the J3109 and J3110 connectors.

Refer to Table I for the wiring changes associated with the Channel A Relay Card Rack and Table 11 for Channel D.

4.2 In order to reduce the amount of rerouting and rewiring within the card rack the pt.rsonnel performing the modification shall make the following observations before removing both end points of any wire connection presentif within the assembly. The modification involves the exchanging of the wires / pins in the J3109 and J3110 connectors.

A simple method of making the change sould be to merely swap the con-nections.

In order to accomplish this it must be detennined whether sufficient wire lpngth exists to make the exchange.

If this method of rodification is possible,.after completing each wire pair swap, initial the appropriate " Mod By" column in the Table. '

Should insu' ficient wire length be available the wire change must be f

acccmplished in accordance with the following procedure.

4. 3 Open the Relay Card Rack assembly from the front of the PPS and remove the side panels to expose the card edge connector wiring on the card cage slide assembly.

4.4 In order to gain access to the Relay Card Rack Card Cage Assembly, the Matrix Test Module Assembly must be removed.

4. 5 Extend the Bistable Control Panel and lock in position.

Remove the top covers on the Relay Card Rack.

4. 6 Remove the " Zipper Tubing" and Ty-Rap fasteners on the cable bundles coming from J3109 and J3110 connectors and goir.g to the relay card edge connector.
4. 7 Remove the two (2) wires between the connections listed in item 1 of the Table (in the Remove Connection Column).
4. 8 Install two (2) new wires between the connections listed in item 1 of the Table (in the Install Connection Column).

Initial the corresponding column'.of the Table upon completion of each change.

4.9 ' After completion of all wiring changes, independent of wiring change methods, a continuity test is to be performed cn all wires in the "Ir. stall Connection" column of the Table..

4.10 Reassemble the Rear panel of the Relay Card Rack and remake all Card Rack connectors.

Ensure all connectors and Ma rix Test Module Assembiy are securely fastened.
