BEAVER VALLEY - CONTAINMENT VACUUM PUMPS (OELD#841194)

-The package looks okay but there is one strange thing in it - the Licensee's discussion of margin of safety. The statement is - if the margin of safety

'is defined.as any basis for any technical specification, is it reduced? The answer was no. That's a reasonable answer but I would have expected an expla-nation along the lines of - the technical specifications governing the containment' vacuum p_ umps and the basis therefore contain no indication of any margin of safety and consequently there will be no reduction in any margin of

-safety defined in the basis for any technical specifications. But that's not th'e answer they gave. They gave an answer that says something else is still more limiting.

Is this statement saying that there is a margin of safety

~ hich is reduced but not significantly? Or is a statement that says there is w

no margin 'of "afety applicable to the containment pumps. 'I.can't tell from

~

this analysis.

~Please let me know. There is no need to send the package back unless this-

~

turns up to be a problem.
