Dear Mr. Knuth:

BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT UNITS 2 AND 3 - POTENTIAL DESIGN DEFICIENCY IN VALVE YOKE TO MOTOR MOUNT WELD 2

Initial report of the subject potential deficiency was made on May 14, 1974, and was followed by our June 14 and July 15 letters, J. E. Gilleland to Donald F. Knuth.

We have not yet been able to complete the final report on this potential deficiency. The investigation of the problem is continuing. Our final report, which we expect to submit by September 11, 1974, will contain information received from the manufacturer, analyses of the safety implications, and the corrective actions taken.
