Update on Notification of Potential Part 21 Gentlemen:
This letter is a notice of closure on Wyle's letter of S~ptember 29,1992 " Notification by Wyle Laboratories of a potential defect of a basic component."
As previously noted, of January 11,1991, Wyle Laboratories delivered Eight (8) Solenoid Manifold. Assemblies, P/N C6930-060, Wyle~ Codes GRE-001 through GRE-008, manufactured by Automatic Valve (AVC) of Novi, Michigan to the Tennessee ' Valley Authority's Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant.
These Solenoid Manifold Assemblies were certified by Wyle Report Number 30081-99 (Job -
Number 41430) through a Commercial Grade dedication program to be qualified to the requirements of Wyle Report 17514-1, Revision A,which included NURED -0588, Category I.
The defect was that Wyle Report 30081-99 does not provide sufficient evidence that the -
above noted serial numbers are qualified by similarity to Wyle Report 17514-1, Revision A.
Wyle had supplied these Solenoid Manifold Assemblies only to Browns Ferry as noted above.
TVA returned to Wyle all eight of the Solenoid Manifold Assemblies on October 5,1992.
Wyle has now completed the similarity analysis, documented the analysis in Wyle Report 30081-99, Revision A (see enclosed copy) and has demonstrated that the AVC Manifolds, P/N C6930-060, Wyle S.Ns GRE001 through GRE-011 are similar to the original' test specimen and are qualified to the conditions of Wyle Report 17514-1, Revision A.
