This is to confirm my telephore call reporting suspected manufacturing and/or design defects on motor-alternator sets.

1.

Problem discovered at:

Tennessee Valley Authority Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant Contract 78K5-823297 Alternating Current Motor-Generator Sets Louis Allis Serial No. 8-127033 through -013 2.

Defect:-

a.

Rotor coil support blocks failed.

b.

Diode rings loose.

3.

Action:

Plan established with representative of TVA for corrective action.

a.

Coil support blocks to be replaced with block of a different material.

b.

Diode rings - material to be changed.

Defect 2(b) may possibly affect the following installation:

LILCO - Shoreham Nuclear Plant Specification SH1-439 Purchase Order 310950 and 364514-SSP Alternating Current Motor Generator Sets Louis Allis Serial No. 9-129576-001 through -004 and 3-143750-001 QcpicnAt,dmd
