't ATTACHMENT TO LICENSEE EVENT REPORT NO. 81-004/03L-0 Wisconsin Electric Power Company Point Beach Nuclear Plant Unit 1 Docket No. 50-266 While Unit 1 was operating at approximately 80% power, at 0345 hours0.00399 days
0.0958 hours
5.704365e-4 weeks
1.312725e-4 months
on April 25, 1981, during " Quarterly Inservice Testing of Containment Spray Valves"-(IT-50), spray valve 1-860D failed to open. The redundant valve, 1-860C, had just been tested and operated satisfactorily. This event is reportable in accord-ance with Technical Specification 15.6.9.2.B.2 as a condition leading to operation in a degraded mode permitted by a limited condition for operation.

It was found that the breaker for the motor operator had tripped on the thermal overload. The closing torque switch for IMOV-860D was adjusted, the valve was retested satisfactorily, returning it to service at 0803 hours0.00929 days
0.223 hours
0.00133 weeks
3.055415e-4 months
, April 25, 1981. The redundant train of containment spray and all four containment coolers which also perform a redundant function were available.
