Loss of lB AkV Vital Bus and_ Inoperable Group of Containment- Fan Coil Units *.

Unit in Mode 3, recovering from Safety Injection.

DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRENCE:

At 1037 hours0.012 days <br />0.288 hours <br />0.00171 weeks <br />3.945785e-4 months <br />., the 12BSD 4kV feed breaker to the lB _Vital Bus tripped. -- - - '. ~ .

No indication of*- the cause of _the trip* was shown on* the breaker. The 12BSD breaker was reclosed_ and the 1B4D feeder breaker to the 460/230 ' .*.,.,

volt load center tripped on _overload. Thi's resulted in Nos._ 12 and 14 fan coil unit being inoperable.

DESIGNATION OF APPARENT CAUSE OF OCCURRENCE:

The cause of _the_ l2BSD, 4kV~ _- feeder breaker trip is not known. No

_ indication of cause was showing -on the _breaker. G:tiecks of relays __

-*. associated with the operation of this breaker inade by the Relay Dept. -

were all satisfactory. The cause of the 1B4D lead center breaker trip_

was overload. This over.load was caused by the starting curr.ent drawn

• by all loads that were _running on the load center prior.* to the loss of the 12BSD feeder~ _

ANALYSIS OF OCCURRENCE:_

Technical Specification 3.8.2~1 allows Shours to restore an inoperable on-site distribution system. The lB _vital bus was restored within 10 ..

In neither case was the limiting con-dition for operation violated.**: At no time was there any danger to the heal th and safe'ty of the general_ public or site personnel.

CORRECTIVE ACTION:

The 460/230 volts load center was stripped of all loads. Checks were made on the bus and on al.l loads for shorts and *grounds. - All checks
