DOCKET NO. 50-272 PROPOSED ISSUANCE OF A.MENDr~fill'l' TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NO. DPR-70 We do not have a copy of the transcript to refer to special passages, however we feel compelled to bring the following to your attention.

Durin,c the time of Dr. Richard Webb's cross examination references were made to the roof of the building that houses the spent fuel pool. After the close o:f the testimony le learned the inf'ormation Dr. Webb relied on in reference to the roof o:f the ~acility was at least in part supplied to him by William ~oss, Project En£:.lneer for Salem l.

Even though Mr. Ross was witness to the cross examination, no attempt was made to reveal the above. As a matter of' :fact, a resident of' Lower Alloways Creek was witness to an apology by r~:r. Ross to Dr. Webb (concerning giving Dr. Webb the wrong information).

We :feel somehow en injustice exists and should be corrected somehow. ~e suggest you contact Attorney Valore in an attempt to remedy this injustice, Very truly yours, )

DOCKET HO. 50-272 PROPOSED ISSUANCE OF AM&ID~.i.ENT TO FACILITY OPEHATING LICENSE no. DPR-70 After the close or the record from the last )-day session on the above subject.(Salem, H. J. April 28, 29 and )O}, Chair-man Milhollln suf~t,ested we obtain information about the contents of the spent tuel pool from the licensee. ~r. ~.

Ross, Froject Manaeer for Salem 1 offered to get us the information. On Friday, May 2, ~. Ross called ma and told me Lief Norholm (Resident NRC inspector at Salem l) would call me today with the information we requested. I received a call, however Mr. Norholm advised me he has no mechanism to supply me information in written form. I euess this means we are back to square 1 and al though I did have a discussion wl th ir1r. Norholm, for purposes of this proceeding, we feel a written inventory is necessary.

Specifically, we would appreciate (in writlne} a complete inventory of the present contents of the spent fuel pool.

Thie, of course, includes number ot spent 1'uel assemblies, broken control rods, bits and pieces of grid straps, start-up sources, burnable poison assemblies, etc. or _great concern also is the number of spaces the current inventory occupies.

in the pool.

I'm sure you realize any study dlrected by the Atomic Safety an*d. Licensine Board would include the entire inventory of the spent .tuel pool at Salem l. Also, after discussion with Mr. Norholm we question whether there are suf'~icient spaces in the pool s.t this time to empty an entire core if it becomes necessary. You might want to advisa us on this a.leol
