MA0567 AND MA0568 RESPONSE TO REQUESTS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION (RAI) TO GENERIC LETTER 92-01, REVISION 1, SUPPLEMENT 1, "REACTOR VESSEL STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY," FOR THE SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2.

This correspondence provides Public Service Electric and Gas (PSE&G)

Company's comments on the above Reference letter. The Reference letter provided notification of close out of the NRC staff's effort in regard to TAC Nos.

MA0567 and MA0568. In the Reference letter, the NRC staff noted that the information in the Reactor Vessel Integrity Database (RVID) had been revised and was being released as RVID, Version 2. The NRC recommended that

• PSE&G review the information in the RVID, Version 2, and provide comments by September 1, 1999.

During the review of the RVID Version 2 database for Salem 1 and 2, PSE&G identified discrepancies, which are shown on the attached spreadsheet.

PSE&G's data was last reported on February 17, 1998 (PSE&G letter LR-N980011) with additional information provided in a response to an RAI on August 4, 1998 (PSE&G letter LR-N980348).
