SUMMARY

OF MEETING TO DISCUSS ARKANSAS NUCLEAR ONE PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT

Dear Mr. Browning:

This refers to the public meeting conducted at the Lake Point Conference Center, Russellville, Arkansas on September 17, 2015, between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and your staff. Approximately 50 people attended the public meeting, including approximately 25 members of the general public, with representatives from the Arkansas Department of Health, the Chamber of Commerce, the Pope County Office of Emergency Management, and the Pope County Judge.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the NRCs assessment of Entergy Operations Inc., performance following Arkansas Nuclear Ones entry into the Multiple/Repetitive Degraded Cornerstone Column (Column 4) of the NRCs Reactor Oversight Process. The NRC staff provided an overview of the findings leading to Arkansas Nuclear One being placed in Column 4, and an overview of the increased regulatory oversight activities. The NRC also discussed the creation of a website created to summarize the issues that resulted in the Column 4 assessment (http://www.nrc.gov/info-finder/reactor/ano/special-oversight.html).

During the meeting, you and your staff discussed your station recovery process, interim actions to address the more significant issues, actions to increase vendor oversight, and the changes to the corrective action program. During the public comment/question and answer portion of the meeting, there were no questions presented by the audience.

A copy of the NRCs presentation from the meeting, in addition to Arkansas Nuclear Ones presentation is enclosed.
