Three Mile Island Unit I License Renewal Species of Special Concern Dauphin & Lancaster Counties

Dear Ms. Lund,

This responds to your request about a Pennsylvania Natural Diversity Inventory (PNDI) ER Tool "Potential fiplct"' or i'specids' of special concermimpact review'. We scfie&fid "thisproject: for-potential! impactsl to species and resources of special concern under-the Department of Conservation and*Natural Resources' responsibility; which includes plants,' natural.commtiuiinities, terrestrial invertebrates-arid geologic features bnly*'.'

PNDI records indicate that species and communities of special concern under DCNR's jurisdiction are known to occur in the vicinity of the above-mentioned project. Please see the attached list for species found in the vicinity of this project. No impact is anticipated since earth disturbance is expected to be "within the bounds of the Three Mile Island Flood Protection dike," as stated in April 15, 2008 letter to DCNR. If plans change, to include disturbance outside of the Flood Protection dike area (particularly if more disturbance is required for Transmission Line No. 1051), please coordinate with our office as a survey may be requested.

This response represents the ,most. up-to-date summary of the PNDI data files and is good for one. (1) year from the date of this letter. An absence of recorded information does not necessarily imply actual conditions on-site.

A-field survey of any' site may reveal previously unreported. populations. Should project plans change or additional information on listed or proposed species become available, this determination may be reconsidered.

This finding applies to impacts to plants, natural communities, terrestrial invertebrates and geologic features only. To complete your review'of state and federally-listed species of special concern;- please be sure the U.S.

Communities of Special Concern There is also a Riverside Outcrop Community in the vicinity. This community is characterized by semi-permanently or seasonally flooded vegetation of the riverbed, banks and islands.

More information on this community may be found online in Terrestrial& PalustrinePlant Communities of Pennsylvania by Jean Fike, Pennsylvania Natural Diversity Inventory:
