On May 21, 2008, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) and its contractors from Pacific Northwest National Laboratory conducted a conference call (teleconference) with representatives from AmerGen Energy Company, LLC (AmerGen) and its contractors from ERIN Engineering and Research, Inc., to discuss requests for additional information (RAIs) regarding the Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 1 (TMI-1) severe accident mitigation alternatives (SAMA) analysis. The teleconference was useful in clarifying the intent of the staffs SAMA RAIs.
AmerGen staff and contractors discussed the TMI-1 SAMA RAIs with the staff and contractors and gained clarification as to specific line items. A list of teleconference participants is enclosed. No changes were made to the RAIs as contained in the letter to AmerGen dated May 21, 2008 (ML081330184). AmerGen agreed to provide the requested information within the specified 60-day response period. No staff decisions were made during the teleconference.
