Results Of the three areas inspected, no items of noncompliance or deviations were identified in two areas; one item of noncompliance was found in one area:

Infraction - Instrument tray and tray support installed on safety-related motors, paragraph 5.

Exit Interview The inspection scope and findings were summarized on September 26, 1980-with those persons indicated in Paragraph 1 above. The item of noncompliance was discussed in depth.

Licensee Action on Previous Inspection Findings a.

(Closed) Infraction 413, 414/80-11-02, " Inadequate Procedures for inspection of Terminations". The inspector reviewed licensee corrective actions provided in DPC response to Region II dated August 5, 1980.

The licensee has issued revision 3 to M-41B Serial 15, which now includes the necessary inspections, b.

(Closed) Unresolved item 413, 414/80-11-01, " Control of the 125VDC intertie". The inspector examined the system requirements document and talked to the cognizement engineerin4 designers. This intertie is annunciated in the control room and in the computer. There is sufficient indications to prevent inadvurtant actuation. This item is closed.

Unresolved Items Unresolved items were not identified during this inspection.

5.

Independent Inspection Effort The inspector examined the raceway and conduit in the service and auxiliary buildings. The inspector examined the component cooling (CCW) Water Pump motor 1A1 and 1A2. The fuel pool cooling pump motor IA was examined. An item of noncompliance was identified on CCW pump motor IA2 and fuel pool

cooling pump motor IA in that the instrument tray was fastened to the motors without drawings. The licensee stated that this was not by procedures or drawings. This infraction will be identified as 413/80-28-01 " Instrument Tray and Tray Supports Installed on Safety-Related Motors without Procedures or Drawings Appropriate for the Circumstances".

6.

Electrical (Components and Systems II) Observation of Work and Work Activities (Unit 1)

The inspector examined the installation of motor operated valve (MOV)

motors 1RN144A, IRN404B and IRN843B. The inspector examined the termination of the installed cables to assure that the requirements of M41B Serial 15, Revision 3 were complied with. The junction boxes for the MOVs are mounted on the electray near the motor. The inspector questioned the adequacy of this method for seismic support. This is an inspector follow-up item 413/80-28-02, " Seismic Support of MOV Junction Boxes Mounted on Electray."

Within the areas examined there were no items of noncompliance identified.

7.

Inspector Followup Item (Open) 413-414/80-11-04 Calibration of Crimping Tools. The licensee has revised construction procedure 338 (Procedure for Checking Crimping Tools) to require monthly checks on the Thomas and Betts model VF-145A crimping tools. This tool is the most used tool on site. This item will remain open pending further action to include all crimping tools in the program.
