Backaround By letter dated January 21,1999, Boston Edison Company (Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station) requested NRC review and approval for the use of new values for post-accident containment pressure in Pilgrim's net positive suction head (NPSH) analyses performed for the emergency core cooling system (ECCS) pumps. The new values accommodate the postulated pump suction strainer head loss due to loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA) generated debris.

Reason for Withdrawal This letter withdraws the January 21,1999, request because Pilgrim subsequently discovered that a datum used in its preparation was incorrect.  !

Pilgrim is currently preparing a revised request reflecting the correct datum, which will be submitted for NRC review and approval. Pilgrim will operate under the aegis of Amendment 173 until receipt of the revised request's NRC approval. The NRC issued License Amendment ,
