RE: Oyster Creek follow up Lauren -

This is a quick follow up to our conversation Friday night. I confirmed with our technical staff that the licensee is continuing to sample monitoring wells (11 total) to monitor and assess tritium levels resulting from the leaks.

Additionally, the licensee has a hydrologist on site to assist with assessing any anticipated movement ("plume"

) of the leaked water. Again, the sources of the leaks have all been identified and the pipes repaired or replaced. The focus is now on a) what caused the pipes to leak, and b) addressing the leaked water and any remediation needed.

I've cc'ed Gene here. He's back in the office tomorrow - given Sen. Carper's interest, he can update you as we know more from the monitoring of the water and looking into what caused the pipes to leak.

Oyster Creek follow up Lauren -

I have not been able to find anyone to confirm the amounts of tritium for me. However, any readings that we'd know of were from monitoring wells on the plant's property. The leak sources have ben found and pipes repaired or replaced (depending on what was needed to stop the leaking). The condensate storage tank that I mentioned will be examined to see if there are any issues to be addressed there. I'll get you more info once technical staff is in on Monday.
