LOUISIANA ENERGY SERVICES - INTERIM AUTHORITY TO OPERATE EXTENSION TILL MARCH 1, 2023 (ENTERPRISE PROJECT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER L-2021-LLL-0007)
Dear Wyatt Padgett:
We have reviewed your letter dated June 22, 2022 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML22178A048), requesting classified network reaccreditation for the Louisiana Energy Services, LLC, doing business as Urenco USA (UUSA), facility. In addition, UUSA has submitted acceptable Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM) detailing efforts to complete the required actions.
After reviewing the information provided, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) believes that the risk to operations, assets, or individuals resulting from the continued operation of these systems throughout a 7-month extension of the current Interim Authorization to Operate (IATO) is acceptable, contingent on the conditions provided in the enclosure. One additional condition for a POAM was added regarding revisions to the inventory program. This and the other conditions are described in the enclosed IATO extension.
Based on our review, the NRC staff has determined the IATO may be extended to March 1, 2023. The NRC staffs basis for approval is documented in the enclosed authorization assessment report.
Also enclosed is the approval of the IATO and supporting conditions that were issued by the Authorizing Official via email dated July 27, 2022.
This letter concludes work on the IATO extension request for July 2022. The Enterprise Project Identification Number L-2021-LLL-0007 will remain open to support future authorizing official related activities.
