Berkow, Director Standardization & Special Projects Directorate Division of PWR Licensing-R U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 Re: Docket No. 50-133, OL-DPR-7 Humboldt Bay Power Plant Unit 3 Decommissioning / Spent Fuel Storage

Dear Mr. Berkow,

The problem of safe storage of spent nuclear fuel is one that our nation has not yet been able to resolve, nor does there appear any likely near-term storage places set up with acceptably safe-transport from nuclear plants.

In my opinion, keeping spent fuel at the current loca-tions (under appropriate safeguards currently imposed) is immeasurably better than. transporting to an unavailable site via potentially dangerous means of transportation.

Of course, at the time, safe storage and recycling sites become available and safe transport arrange, I will urge all such fuel be so disposed.

Sincerely, J
