SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-133/99-01
Dear Mr. Rueger:
On February 25,1999, the NRC completed the onsite portion of an inspection at your Humboldt
Bay Power Plant Unit 3. The enclosed report presents the scope and results of that inspection.
The inspection disclosed that SAFSTOR activities had been conducted ia accordance with NRC
regulations and your Technical Specifications. On March 8,1999, a followup telephonic
discussion was held between tne inspector and members of your staff. During this discussion,
our inspector requested additional information on your radioactive waste shipments and
groundwater analyses.
Areas reviewed during this inspection included future Unit 3 decommissioning plans, Unit 3
stack removal completion, occupational exposure, spent fuel pool operations, radioactive waste
management, environ.nental monitoring, and safety assessment programs. No violatione of
NRC regulations were identified. f-
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its
enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).
