STARTUP REPORT QUARTERLY UPDATE CATAWBA UNIT 2 CYCLE 1 May 15, 1989 TESTING COMPLETED DURING QUARTER None.

STATUS OF TESTING NOT COMPLETE i

STEADY STATE PIPING SYSTEMS OPERATIONAL VIBRATION MEASUREMENT'--TP/2/A/1200/21 This test is described in Section 10.5 and 11.5 in the Startup Report. It is complete except for retesting of piping associated with the Diesel Generator Fuel Oil and Lube Oil systems. Additional restraints were installed during the EOC-1 refueling outage. However, further modifications have been found to be necessary. These modifications involve the replacement of rigid elbows with flexible elbows. Design Engineering is currently evaluating sources of qualified parts. . It.has been determined by Design Engineer bg that a Nuclear Station Modification will be necessary to perform this piping replacement. Completion of the test is dependent on these modifications. It is expected these modifications will be completed during the Unit 2 End of Cycle 3 outage. This outage is currently scheduled to start in June, 1990, i
