For security training purposes, personnel are now classified as either Watchman, or Security Officer. The training requirements for each classification are separate from the other.

2.0 EMPLOYMENT SUITABILITY REOUIREMENIS 2.1 PREEMPLOYMENT SCREENING Preemployment screening shall be used to assess the suitability of an applicant to perform security tasks.

Evaluation of preemployment qualifications and screening is performed by Human Resources personnel.

2.1.2.1 Minimum age of 21 for Armed Security Officers and 18 for Unarmed Security Officers (Proper determination of age; birth certificate, driver's license, etc.).

A Security Officer is an individual, not necessarily  ;

uniformed or armed, who has completed training in the topics l listed below.

Lesson Plans in Watchman training entitled the same as in Security Officer training, are the same. In the event of reclassification from Watchman to Security Officer, personnel are not required to be retrained to the same Lessons Plans.

If a Security Officer is to be assigned to a task (s) that requires the officer to be armed, the officer shall also be trained and qualified in accordance with Appendix B of this j Plan. '

1.0 INTRODUCTION

Each armed Security Officer shall be proficient in the use l of his assigned handgun and shall be trained in the l following categories either in course standards er lesson plans:

APPENDIX B FIREARMS PROGRAM 2.0 HANDGUN OUALIFICATION one of the following courses shall be used for handgun qualification of armed Security Officers.

2.1 HANDGUN OUALIFICATION COURSE NUMBER 1 SCORING: 50 rounds using B-27 target, or target of equivalent difficulty. The maximum score is 250 points. To qualify, a minimum of 200 points (80%)

is required (multiply the total score by 0.4 to obtain the percentile).

Note: In the event that not all rounds are fired from a given firing point, the firer CANNOT fire additional rounds at another yard line in a attempt to " catch up."

STAGE 1: Three (3) Yard Line (6 Rounds)

Load and holster

1. Draw and fire 2 rounds in 2 seconds using one hand only. Keep the target covered until i given the command to holster.

, , GLOSSARY OF TERMS j Academic Trainino: Classroom instruction which includes security knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for a Security Officer to properly perform assigned tasks and duties.

Annually: An interval no greater than 13 months.

Armed Resnonse:'The response to contingencies by an armed response individual (s), not necessarily uniformed, trained in armed response.

Attest: Act of certifying that an individual can perform assigned tasks and duties. .

1 Comoany Physician: A physician contracted by Duke Power Company to perform medical services.

Continoencv: A security event or series of security events that could occur, possibly compromising station security.

oualification: The level of ability for initial competency of an individual to perform security-related job tasks and duties for both normal and contingency operations.

Recualification: The level of ability for ongoing competency of an individual to perform security-related jobs, tasks and duties '

which may include both normal and contingency operations.

Security officer: An individual, not necessarily uniformed or armed, whose primary responsibilities are the protection of special nuclear material against theft and the station against radiological sabotage, and who has been trained and qualified in accordance with this Plan.

Watchman: An individual, not necessarily uniformed, who performs l security tasks associated with the implementation of the station Security. Plan and who has been trained and qualified in accordance with.this Plan. These personnel may be permanent or temporary members of the security force or may be station

- personnel who perform security tasks in the course of other work activities.
