Puget Sound Power & Light Company Skagit Nuclear Power Project, Units 1 & 2 Docket Numbers 50-522 and 50-523 Modification of Unit 1 RPV

Dear Mr. Stolz:

This letter is to inform you of the shop modifications that the General Electric Company (GE) will be making to the Puget Sound Power & Light Company (Puget) Skagit Unit 1 reactor pressure vessel at CBIN, which has been N-stamped. The work involves the capping of the CRD hydraulic system return nozzle, and the replacement of the feedwater inlet nozzle safe ends.

GE intends to perform this work beginning in the first week of December, 1978, and completing it before the end of the year. This work will be done in accordance with the requirements of Section XI of the ASME B&PV Code, 1974 Edition, with Addenda to and including Summer, 1975, and is consistent with NUREG 0312 Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements.

Please be advised that Puget has designated GE to act as its designee in doing this modification work, and to be responsible for ASME documen-tation.
