Subject:

Puget Sound Power & Light Company Skagit/llanford Nuclear Project, Units 1 & 2 NRC Docket Nos. 50-522 and 50-523 EFSEC Docket No. 81-1

Dear Mr. Denton:

This will confirm the telephone conversation initiated by Ms. Elinor Adensam and Mr.

Mike Mallory on January 25, 1982, concerning the status of the Skagit/IIanford Nuclear Project as one of the few remaining near term construction permit applicants.

We are determined to press forward with our application and secure construction permits for these units, and will exert our best efforts to achieve the schedule agreed to during the January 7,1982, meeting with members of your staff. The recent cancellation of two Wnshington Public Power Supply System nuclear units does not alter our goal and should not impact the S/HNP schedule.

We appreciate your desire for this confirmation and ace glad to let you know that our

project is alive and well.

Ver truly yours,
