NRC INSPECTION REPORT 70-1257/98-04 I i

Dear Mr. Femreite:

On August 14,1998, the NRC completed a routine' inspection of operational safety, maintenance and surveillance, and transpo1ation at your Siemens Power Corporation facility in Richland, Washington. The purpose of the inspection was to determine whether activities authorized by your license were conducted safely and in accordance with NRC requirements.

Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report. Within these areas, the I inspection consisted of a selective examination of procedures and representative records, I interviews with personnel, and observations of activities in progress. During the inspection, your conduct of activities at the Siemens facility was generally characterized by effective implementation of your operational safety, maintenance and surveillance, and transportation programs. No violations were identified during the inspection.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).
