NRC INSPECTION REPORT 70-1257/98-05
Dear Mr. Femreite:
On October 30,1998, the NRC completed a routine inspection at your Siemens Power
- Corporation facility in Richland, Washington. The purpose of the inspection was to determine whether actMties authorized by your license were conducted safely and in accordance with NRC requirements. The final exit briefing was held via telephone with members of your staff on November 30,1998.
Areas examined during the inspection were operational safety, operational event review feedback, and management organization and controls. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective examination of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observation of activities in progress. No violations were identified during the
. inspection. The inspection also included an event reported to the NRC on September 22,1998, involving a failure to remove accumulated solids from dismantled ductwork. During our review of this event and your followup investigation, an unresolved item was identified pending further review by the Office of Nuclear Materials Safety and Safeguards to determine whether a violation occurred. This matter will be reviewed further in NRC Inspection Report 70-1257/98-204.
. In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).
