Letter, LJ Maas to USNRC, same subject, dated September 18,1998.
Siemens Power Corporation (SPC) continues to pursue its year 2000 (Y2K) readiness program.to assure that its computer systems will not prevent or degrade the safety function of a structure, system or component or degrade, impair or prevent the operation of the production facility. The program is set forth in EMF-2097, "SPC Year 2000 Readiness" and is administered by a " Year 2000 Project Team" under the leadership of the Manager, Corporate Information Services.
The current St.itus of the program, described in the referenced letter, is as follows:
The SPC Y2K readi. ness program is approximately 55% complete.
o
,o The inventory of potentially affected assets was completed in November 1998.
o The initial assessment of all inventoried assets is proceeding and is slightly behind the scheduled completion date of December 31,1998. Currently, we expect to complete the assessment by.the end of January 1999.
I Remediation is in progress for many assets.
- ' Remediation of assets requiring modification is expected by June 30,1999.
Below.is a report on the status of specific systems of interest with regard to the year 2000 readiness effort.
