OPERABILITY / DEGRADED EQUIPMENT WORKSHOP HOSTED BY REGIONS

Dear Mr. Rueger:

We would like to invite you and members of your staff to participate in a Operability / Degraded Equipment Workshop, scheduled to be held at the Hilton liotel, located in Arlington, Texas, on February 17 and 18,1993. The objective of the workshop is to provide a forum for utility personnel, who are responsible for operability determinations, to discuss and develop a better understanding of Generic Letter 91-18, " Resolution of Degraded and Nonconforming Conditions and Operability Determinations." The workshop will have breakout sessions where each participant will be provided the opportunity to raise questions and provide their perspective on the operability process.

This workshop will be an interactive technical conference and will require active involvement from all participants.

We request that you inform the Region V office of the estimated number of your staf f who wish to attend the conference no later than January 22, 1993.

Please complete the attached form for each participant and fax or phone this information to Region V no later than January 26, 1993. -Information should be sent to Dennis Kirsch: fax to (510) 975-0267 or phone (510) 975-0290.

Because of the space available, attendance at the workshop may have to be lignited, depending on the level of response. For this reason, notification of attendance should be made as soon as possible. To ensure that each organization is equally represented, the number of participants from any one organization may have to be limit ^d. Those-individuals that do not preregister will be allowed to attend the workshop only if space is available.

A tentative agenda for the conference is attached. Registration for the conference will take place between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on February 17, 1993.
