Docket No. 50 - 261 01A

Dear Judges:

The Hartsville Group has received a copy of Revision 1 to the Final Steam Generator Ryair Report which, during the Prehearing Conference held on March 24, 1983, Counsel for the Applicant had said would be forthcoming. Counsel had informed this party previously and informed the Board at that point that Revision 1 would make clear the Applicant's intent to store the discarded SGLAs on site. This revision does not accomplish that.

However, it does address a number of other matters. Significantly, we find for the first time that sleeving of the degraded steam generator tubes "is currently a viable alternative to the repair" (FSGRR, Rev. 1, p. 97a) and that it " continues to be considered" (FSGRR, Rev. 1, p. 97).

The Hartsville Group believes that it may be an appropriate time for a conference call so that Carolina Power & Light Company can provide a status report to the Board, parties and petitioners on their steam generator replace-ment program. By this revision, does the Applicant intend to amend its License  :

Amendment Application to allow for sleeving of the steam generator tubes?

Thank you for your consideration of this matter.

Sincerely yours l
