thick austenetic stainless steel components. Inservice Inspection l Plans have been implemented at each of the four major nuclear facilities. 1 October 1972 - January 1974 --- SLSF Design Section Supervisor j

                 .

Supervised a high of 26 engineers assigned to support the Sodium Loop , Safety Facility Program during the design and construction phase. i This is a liquid metal test facility which is located in a Light I Water Reactor. The facility provides an environment to test LMFBR  ! Fuel to failure. I had specific design / construction responsibilities  : for the fill storage and remelt system which was used to bring the  ! sodium coolant to within the chemical specifications and then fill  ; the experiment loops. 1 July 1971 - October 1972 --- Engineering Division Project Manager Responsible for Power Burst Facilities (PBF) modifications to provide . test capabilities for loss of coolant accident conditions for' both BWR and PWR fuel bundle tests. Responsibilities included directing the planning, budget preparation, design, purchasing, fabrication,

installation, and acceptance testing. Design and analysis was to RDT and ASME Code requirements. ( h August 1969 - July 1971 --- Design Engineering Section Supervisor Supervised the Test Reactor Mechanical Design Section. This section provided engineering support for the maintenance of the Ma*erials Test Reactor, Engineering Test Reactor, and the Advanced Test Reactor. Responsibilities included design of reactor handling tools for exper-iment insertion and removal, design of a pneumatic rabbit facility, design of an experimental lead pressurizing system, and providing the procedures and . tools to replace the ETR Beryllium reflector. I also had the position of Project Manager for Experiment Systems. In this capacity I provided the sponsors (KAPL, BAPL, and Battelle Northwest) with engineer.ing design and analysis support for the experiments to be inserted in the test reactors. May 1967 - August 1969 --- Desion Engineer o Provided tool design, plant engineering, system engineering, and reactor component procurement support of test reactors. Designed the tooling, wrote procedures, and directed the change out of the material test reactor reflector and core internals which led to the promotion to design superviso'. September 1962 - April 1967 --- Mal Officer Served in the United States Navy in various shipboard engineering (o) billets. Damage Control and Repair officer aboard two destroyers. Builer Officer aboard the carrier Oriskany. In this position I supervised a 700 man division and was a qualified engineering watch officer. l _

Pr In addition, I was responsible for the engineering aspects of the Shipyard '

l cnce: radiological environmental monitoring program. This program consisted of:

l. 1. Analyzing harbor sediment samples for radioactivity.

l 2. Analyzing harbor water sampics for radioactivity.

3. Monitoring and analyzingfiltered air being exhausted from radiological l control facil.ities for airborne radioactivity.

l 4. Monitoring the radiation levels at the periphery of the Shipyard. While discharging these responsibilities I was instrumental in extending the use of the air particulate samplers in radiological work areas. I was also instrumental in changing the Shipyard over to the use of thermo luminescent dosimeters (TLD's) instead of film badges, for environmental monitoring.

                                                                                                            .

To justify the use of TLD's instead of film badges for environmental monitoring I performed a statistical analysis based on a collectinn of TLD data that had been gathered for a period of 1 year. A report, including this analysi.s, was submitted to NAVSHIPS (Washington, D.C.) and approval was granted to change the Shipyard over to TLD's. This analysis is available on request.
