SUMMARY

OF JULY 15, 2008, MEETING TO DISCUSS TRANSITION FROM DUKES CURRENT QUALITY ASSURANCE (QA) PROGRAM TO AMERICAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS NQA [NUCLEAR QA]-1-1994 On July 15, 2008, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) met with Duke (the licensee) to discuss the licensees plan to convert its quality assurance (QA) program to an American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) NQA [Nuclear QA]-1-1994-based QA program. The handout provided by the licensee during the meeting is available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management Systems (ADAMS) under accession number ML081990367.

Enclosed is a list of the attendees.

The licensee plans to use the NRC-approved ASME NQA-1-1994 Standard and the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI)06-14A template as the basis for its proposed QA program. The licensee solicited the NRC staffs comments on how to streamline the QA program review process. The NRC staff provided feedback on the requirements for a QA program submittal and how to facilitate the NRC staffs review.
