Dear Mr. Grier:

-

.

In accordance with Technical Specification 3.4.6.1, the following occurrence

-

is reported. The report was discussed with resident inspector D. A. Beckman at E approximately 0730 hours0.00845 days
0.203 hours
0.00121 weeks
2.77765e-4 months
on November 5, 1979. -

-

During routine review of operations logs with the station in Operational

" Mode 1 at approximately 36% full power, it was discovered that samples of the y containment atmosphere required while the containment atmosphere particulate monitor is out of service were not being taken. Upon discovery, a sample was

-

immediately taken and analyzed. Since the containment atmosphere gaseous '

monitor was in service, activity levels could still be monitored. The remaining reactor coolant leak detection monitoring instrumentation remained operable; therefore, no safety implications were involved.

Any additional information or corrective action will be included in the follow-up report. -

Very truly yours,
