Dear Mr. Grier:

In accordance with Appendix A, Beaver Valley Technical Specifications, the following occurrence is reported. This matter was discussed with the Beaver Valley Resident Inspector, Mr. D. A. Beckman, at 1445 hours0.0167 days <br />0.401 hours <br />0.00239 weeks <br />5.498225e-4 months <br /> on April 15, 1980.

During a tank modification project, Beaver Valley field engineers reported that a weld on one of the 12" nozzle penetrations to the Refueling Water Storage Tank [QS-TK-1] does not conform with the manufacturer's design. The condition was discovered during the process of adding an internal elbow to the tank.

Additional penetrations are being checked at this time.
