This letter serves to notify you and your staff that the 2013 Operator Licensing Workshop sponsored by NRC Region III Division of Reactor Safety, Operations Branch, will be held at the Wyndham Lisle-Chicago Hotel and Executive Meeting Center, located at 3000 Warrenville Rd.,
Lisle, Illinois 60532. This meeting is categorized as a Non-Public Closed Meeting. Please see the enclosed Meeting Notice (Enclosure 1), as well as the 2013 Workshop Agenda (Enclosure 2) for details concerning subject topics to be addressed during the workshop.
Members of your operations and training staff involved in the overall Operator Licensing Program, along with your staff, responsible for writing NRC required written examinations and operating tests, (initial and requalification) are invited to attend this workshop. Note that your training managers were previously informed of this workshop through your participation with the Midwest Nuclear Training Association (MNTA). Lisle, Illinois 60532 Purpose: Operator Licensing Workshop and Training Manager Meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to share experiences, lessons learned, and discuss issues affecting Operator Licensing Program activities with the licensees and industry. The NRC Region III Division of Reactor Safety, Operations Branch, will present clarification on existing internal agency guidance relevant to Operator Licensing Examination and Inspection Programs. This will include discussions concerning examination development and quality, implementation of the Temporary Instruction (TI)-186 Aircraft Threats, and insights on Fukushima Event Lessons Learned. The licensees will present lessons learned, corrective actions experiences, and specific issues associated with internal responses to NRC Regulations and Guidance. The Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) will present their current perspectives and issues on initial license examinations and inspections, and current licensee performance on those examinations and in the nations power plant control rooms. The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission will present material applicable to licensing operators at Canadian power plants. Please see (Enclosure 2) for the Workshop Agenda.
