              Inspection Conducted January 30 through February 3,1989 (Report 50-482/89-12)
              Areas Inspected:    Routine, unannounced inspection of certain areas of the
              physical security program. The areas inspected within the' physical security
              program included: management support, licensee event report followup, security
              program plan, and audits; protected and vital area physical barriers, detection
              and assessment aids; protected and vital area access. control of personnel,
              packages, and vehicles; alarm stations and communications; power supply;
              testing, maintenance, and compensatory measures; and security training and
              qualifications.
              Results: Within the areas inspected, one apparent violation was identified
              (inadequate assessment aids, paragraph 4).
              A clear understanding of technical issues continues to be demonstrated.
              Approaches are usually viable, but the timeliness of implementation'tends to be-
              slow. The administrative activities associated with'the fitness for duty
