Dear Mr. Knuth:

t This lettar is submitted as an Interim Report regarding the Davis-Besse

. Nuclear Fover Station Unit No. 1 Cyberex 125 volt D.C. Battery Charger problems related by telecon to Mr. J. W. Sutton, Office of Inspection and Enforcement, Region III on May 8, 1975.

A joint meeting was held at the Cyberex factory between Cyberex, Bechtel Company, our Architect Engineer and Toledo Edison Company to clarify certain n conditions affecting the operational status of the Cyberex 125 volt, 600 amp,

Station Unit No. 1. Additional testing was done by factory personnel at Cyberex and at the plant site.

As a result of these meetings and manufacturer performed tests, the following problems were delineated, and Cyberex is presently establishing a corrective program for the following deficiencies:

1)

Battery Charger output voltage unstable over load range of charger.

2) Excessive deenergized battery charger loading of D.C. bus.

The foregoing items are currently under review by the Applicant, and the vendor.

Upon completion of the establishment corrective action and verification of its results, a definitive report of the deficiency, analysis of the safety impli-cations ani! the corrective action taken will be submitted to your office in accord with 10CFR Part 50.55 (e).
