SUMMARY

OF THE JULY 23, 2018, CATEGORY 1, PUBLIC TELECONFERENCE TO DISCUSS NUSCALE POWER LLCS REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION NO. 9225 RESPONSE DUE DATE The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a Category 1 public teleconference on July 23, 2018, to discuss technical issues with NuScale Power, LLC (NuScale) associated with Chapter 4, Section 4.2 - NuScale reactor vessel flange tool (RFT) and seismic impact for fuel to include the Request for Additional Information (RAI) No. 9225 response due date. Participants included personnel from NuScale. No members of the general public participated via bridgeline during the meeting.

The public meeting notice dated July 9, 2018, can be found in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management Systems under Accession No. ML18190A452. This meeting notice was also posted on the NRC public website.

Enclosed is the meeting agenda (Enclosure 1), list of participants (Enclosures 2), and overview (Enclosure 3).

U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION CATEGORY 1 PUBLIC TELECONFERENCE TO DISCUSS NUSCALE POWER LLCS REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION NO. 9225 RESPONSE DUE DATE The purpose of this teleconference was to discuss technical issues with NuScale Power, LLC (NuScale) associated with Chapter 4, Section 4.2 - NuScale reactor vessel flange tool (RFT) and seismic impact for fuel to include the Request for Additional Information (RAI) No. 9225 response due date.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff requested NuScale to provide a status for the response to RAI No. 9225. NuScale stated that the response to RAI No. 9225 is potentially impacted by the upstream nuclear power module (NPM) analysis. The NPM analysis is being revised to address input errors as requested by RAI No. 8911. NuScale stated that the revision to the NPM calculation needs to be completed before they can determine if the downstream structural evaluations are impacted. This could potentially affect the fuel assembly structural response and reactor building seismic response analyses. NuScale stated that the NPM analysis revision is expected to be completed by the end of November 2018. It will take approximately an additional month (i.e. end of December) for NuScale to evaluate the impacts on the fuel seismic structural response to determine if the analysis of record remains bounding.

If not, then NuScale will revise the fuel assembly structural response analysis which will tentatively be completed and submitted to the NRC staff in April, 2019 for review.
